"Rīgas satiksme" organised 2nd seminar for public transport drivers on mutual understanding with cyclists

On April 15 "Rīgas satiksme" held a second seminar for public transport drivers to further mutual understanding with cyclists on roads.

More than 200 public transport drivers and traffic controllers attended the event.

Opening the seminar, Riga City Council Chairman Nils Ušakovs said: „Riga City Council plans to keep on developing infrastructure for cyclists, including the building of cycle tracks and lanes. This will partly affect public transport drivers, so the city authorities ask public transport drivers to do all the best to become allies with cyclists on roads.”

Several experts participated in the seminar, including Jānis Golubevs, a member of the board in the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), Viesturs Silenieks, chairman of the board in the Latvian Cyclists Association, as well as representatives of "Rīgas satiksme": Chairman of the Board Leons Bemhens, Member of the Board and former chief of the State Police Edmunds Edmunds Zivtiņš and deputy head of the Transportation Department Kaspars Čaša.
